"The new clear skin superheroes are ready to battle your blemishes.”

With so many skincare products on the market it takes a long time, perseverance and a lot of money before you finally find the one that works for you. We all have different skin types and are therefore all looking for something different from our skincare products, from combating dry skin to battling blackheads. However there is one skin problem that everyone will have to deal with at one point or another and usually at the most inconvenient of times.

Spots are the most common skin complaint and seem to serve no purpose but to damage our bank account every month. Stores are lined with products boasting to have the answer to your blemish woes, many highly-endorsed but very few actually deliver.

I’ve tried a number of products with varying success and had settled on Cetaphil, as a facial cleanser, Olay for my moisturiser and a Clearasil spot treatment cream as my daily routine. Whilst all three products had proved to be successful to an extent they never fully combated my skin problems and, whilst I will still use them from time to time, they have been put on somewhat of a back-burner.

I came across the Body Shop’s tea tree collection through a social media advert and was intrigued by the slogan:

“The new clear skin superheroes are ready to battle your blemishes.”

It is quite a statement to make, and a claim that has been brandished around by numerous products yet has, on the whole, fallen flat. However, I have always been a fan of body shop products and their use of natural ingredients and the tea tree range is no different being 100% organic.

I'd read the reviews online and they were nothing but positive. People who suffer with acne had raved about its efficiency, so with much more mild skin complain it sounded pretty perfect. The range is quite large and has a number of different products, so I selected a few that I thought would work well with my skin (and that my bank balance could afford).

Even having read such positive reviews, I was still surprised by just what an impact these products had on my skin. Not only did the products work but there was also a noticeable difference in my skin quicker than anticipated. My spots cleared up quicker than with any other product I've used and redness and scarring left by previous blemishes had lessened considerably.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Body Shop's Tea Tree range, it is one of the best products I have used when it comes to my daily skincare regime. My skin feels much healthier and my complexion much clearer, in terms of both blemishes and reduced redness around my t-zone. Whilst the range is perhaps a little more expensive than others, the result proves it is definitely worth the money and so far lives up to its claim of being "ready to battle your blemishes."

PRODUCTS I USED

Tea Tree Oil (£11.00 for 20ml): I dab this product on my spots and blemishes as if it were a specialised spot cream and it does wonders. Even the nastiest of under the skin spots are reduced overnight with regular application. I try to apply it at least twice daily but sometimes apply it more often especially on bigger spots.

*I haven’t used this product on anything other than spots but many of the reviews have recommended it as a useful antiseptic for cuts, cold sores and all other manner of small skin problems.*

Night Lotion (£10.00 for 30ml): Though it seems like an quite expensive product, especially with its daily use, you don't actually require that much and it lasts a lot longer than you'd think. Paired with the other products it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Skin Clearing Matifying Toner (£5.50 for 250ml):

This toner is excellent at removing make-up both light and heavier application. The only area that I avoid using this on is my eye make-up as I find my eyes are a bit too sensitive for the tea tree (which I am sure comes as no surprise). I opt for a specialised eye make-up toner and use this to remove the rest of my make-up.

Skin Clearing Clay Mask (£11.00 for 100ml):

Much like the other products in this range, a little goes a long way. This clay mask is one of the most refreshing products, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and smooth. I usually apply this before going in the shower because, like most masks, it is a bit more stubborn when it comes to removing it. When applying the mask I usually cover my face in a thin layer and then leave for between 10-15 minutes and try to do this at least once if not twice a week.

Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser (£5.50 for 150ml)

I decided to buy the clearing foam instead of a regular cleanser or scrub purely on the basis of cost, but have found that the foam feels much more cleansing than products I've used in the past. I apply this morning and night with hot water and a cloth. The results were clear from the first few days, reducing both redness and blemishes.
